Waiting on Wednesday: The Body Institute by Carol Riggs

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature hosted by Breaking the Spine to spotlight upcoming books.

This week, I can't wait to read...

The Body Institute by Carol Riggs

Publication date: September 1st, 2015
Publisher: Entangled Teen
Goodreads link: (click here)

Description from Goodreads:

Meet Morgan Dey, one of the top teen Reducers at The Body Institute.

Thanks to cutting-edge technology, Morgan can temporarily take over another girl’s body, get her in shape, and then return to her own body—leaving her client slimmer, more toned, and feeling great. Only there are a few catches…

For one, Morgan won’t remember what happens in her “Loaner” body. Once she’s done, she won’t recall walks with her new friend Matt, conversations with the super-cute Reducer she’s been text-flirting with, or the uneasy feeling she has that the director of The Body Institute is hiding something. Still, it’s all worth it in the name of science. Until the glitches start…

Suddenly, residual memories from her Loaner are cropping up in Morgan’s mind. She’s feeling less like herself and more like someone else. And when protests from an anti–Body Institute organization threaten her safety, she’ll have to decide if being a Reducer is worth the cost of her body and soul…

Are we our minds...or our bodies?

Why I'm excited:

So, since my idea of exercise is this...

...and I'm totally lazy and prefer reading to moving, my only hope of getting in shape would be to have someone else inhabit my body. That alone is a cool concept, but when you add in a corrupt corporation, glitching technology and romance, that makes it even better. Plus, this is from Entangled Teen, which has put out some amazing books. I love to support them and their authors. I can't wait to pick this one up in the Fall!

What are you waiting to read?

    1. Hey Michelle,

Commenting back on my own comment in hopes you see this! I highly recommend reading the Falling Kingdoms series first before the spinoff. It's my knowledge that there will be some spoilers otherwise! I think after that point, it might be a thing where you need to read each book as they come out...that is only my guessing though! ;)
