Top Ten Tuesday: My Ten Favorite Books This Year (So Far)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's Top Ten Topic is...A FREEBIE. Yikes! I'm usually so bad at thinking topics up. Well, I did get an idea. I figured that since it's close to the middle of the year, I'd list my ten favorite books so far. It'll be interesting to see which ones make it to the end of the year. Of course, remember that I haven't read everything I've wanted to yet (I've read 41 books so far in 2015), and some of these were released at the end of last year but I read them either at the beginning of this year, or at the end of last year, after I made my Top Ten of 2014.

Here are my favorite books of the first half of 2015:

(click book covers for my review of each book)

The Glass Arrow by Kristen Simmons

None of the Above by I. W. Gregorio

Vanishing Girls by Lauren Oliver

The Orphan Queen (The Orphan Queen #1)
by Jodi Meadows

(OMG!! I haven't gotten around to reviewing The Orphan Queen yet! I promise I will get on that! I really loved this amazing fantasy. If you click the book cover, it'll take you to Goodreads.)

Shutter (Shutter #1) by Courtney Alameda

Love, Lucy by April Lindner

Any Way You Slice It by Kristine Carlson Asselin

They All Fall Down by Roxanne St. Claire

The Book of Ivy (The Book of Ivy #1) by Amy Engel

This was released at the end of last year but I didn't read it until this January. Had I read it before the end of 2014, it definitely would have made my Top Ten for the year. I had to give it a shout out today.

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy (#1-#4)
by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson and Robin Wasserman

I'm really enjoying these Simon-centric monthly installments that continue The Mortal Instruments series where City of Heavenly Fire left off. These eBooks are definitely worth buying each month. The picture above takes you to my review of the first book in the series, but WARNING, if you haven't read City of Heavenly Fire yet, you'll get spoilers for that book (Shadowhunter Academy takes place right after CoHF).

There you go. I really enjoyed all these books!

What were your favorite books for the first half of 2015?

What topic did you choose this week?

  3. Love your selection, there have been so many incredible books so far this year. I'd probably have to add in 'The Game of Love & Death' by Martha Brockenbrough and 'The Last Leaves Falling' by Sarah Benwell.

  6. OOoh great topic choice! This was harder to do than I thought. So many themes and ideas run through my head and I can't decide what to do! It's possible that I chose a lot of the same books I did the last time I used this topic! I didn't want to go back and check because some are still faves!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  7. Nice topic. I struggled with what to do this week but finally came up with one. I really need to get to Shutter as I remember buying it as soon as it came out. I have been tied up with review books this month so maybe I'll get to it in a month or two.

  20. Shutter looks terrifying but I am very intrigued by The Orphan Queen! My favorites so far this year ....hmm...The only five star review I've given out so far this year was to Jackaby by William Ritter. Lots of four stars but I'd have to think too hard to sort them out, lol!
