My Review:

Harper Price: debutante, homecoming queen, cheerleader, class president. After an unfortunate encounter in the girls bathroom at a school dance, she will now have to add Secret Ninja to her resume. After being attacked by a sword wielding teacher who just killed the janitor, Harper's life is changed forever. She's suddenly given the powers of a Paladin, a super strong warrior with a noble mission to guard and protect. Unfortunately, the one she's supposed to protect is David Stark, her mortal enemy since daycare. The guy has done nothing but annoy her all her life and now it's her duty and destiny to keep him safe, to even lay her own life on the line if necessary. Now, along with cotillion rehearsal, keeping her boyfriend from dumping her and fulfilling her school obligations, she must figure out who or what is trying to kill her and David and why. Harper is going to have to channel her inner Buffy if she wants to stay alive. To make matters worse, she's starting to see David in a new way that she's not prepared to deal with. Her life can't possibly get any more complicated and crazy...right? Oh, yes, Harper, it surely can. The night she's been looking forward to her entire life may just end up being her last.

My Thoughts:

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's a fun story with action, magic, romance, history, Southern charm and quirky humor. I can honestly say I laughed out loud several times, looking, I'm sure, like a crazy fool since I was reading it in a public place. There was also a lot of butt kicking, which is a bonus. And OH MAN, what an ending! If you're looking for an entertaining summer read, definitely check this book out.
