Top Ten Tuesday: Ten All-Time Favorite YA Authors

Top ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's Top Ten topic is "Top Ten All-Time Favorite Authors" (we were given permission to narrow it down to a genre, so I went with YA). On this list are authors who's books I'd buy without even knowing what they were about. Well, here goes...

Cassandra Clare
The Mortal Instruments & The Infernal Devices

Lauren Oliver

(I've never met her but I'd LOVE to!)

Rachel Caine
(Morganville Vampires, etc

A.S. King

Jennifer Murgia

Cyn Balog (aka, Nichola Reilly)

Melissa Marr

(Yes, we've met, but I have no pictures)

Rachel Vincent

(We've met, no pics)

Gayle Forman

Simone Elkeles

Who are your favorite authors?

  9. Every time I see anything about The Morganville Vampires it reminds me that I haven't started my series read of it yet! I've still only read book one and I so want to get on with it! The number of books and short stories is pretty daunting though!

  11. Simone Elkeles made my list too! Her books are such emotional roller coasters but at the same time they are funny. I love her characters because they're so real. The other authors are not my favorites but I love the If I Stay series, The Morganville Vampires and Before I Fall. :)
    Lovely list. :)

  16. Wow you've met some amazing people!! I love the pics with A.S. King! And isn't Gayle Forman a riot?? I never knew she was so fun until I saw her at a library book conference thing last year. And Lauren Oliver is fast becoming one of my new fave authors... I'm reading Before I Fall right now :)

  17. I had to opt-out of this one! GAH! I have hundreds of favorite authors and I can only pick 10??????! Lauren Oliver and Cassandra Clare are only some pretty big ones for me! Looking at your list, it's surprising to me how I haven't read books from some of these authors. I'll have to fix that!

  19. These pictures are FABULOUS! Especially the Gayle Forman one hahhaha. And A.S. King was SO CLOSE to making my list. The struggle was real. Also, you have met ALL the people, no? I am insanely jealous, of course, but so happy for you, because that is so great! I have NEVER met an author. Ever. Not even like, some local guy who self-pubbed a pamphlet or something ;) I suppose that will change at BEA? (Fingers crossed, anyway!) Great list, they are all amazing!

    1. A lot of authors live in or are from my area. I work in a bookstore, plus there are several other bookstores in the area that have signings regularly. Plus, there are YA festivals every year here. It's so weird because we'll have someone walk into the store and tell us they have a book coming out soon, and three years later they're HUGE successes. I've known Amy King for years (as you can see by our goofy pictures). You'll definitely meet some authors at BEA. If it's a big author, you should get in line early. Last year the lines were ridiculous. I wish they'd release the author signing schedule!

  20. So incredibly envious of your pile of author meets. You have some great picks on your list. I even ended up adding two more to my list to try (I also learned about Cyn Balog's altar ego...I had no idea about her Nichola Reilly books.) Elle @ Erratic Project Junkie
