Top Ten Tuesday: Favorites of 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Well, 2015 is almost over and it's time to do the whole Best Of 2015 thing. This week's topic is "The Ten Best Books I Read In 2015". My Top Ten list is going to be the ten best non-sequel YA books (released in 2015) that are either stand alones or series starters. Afterwards, I'll list a few other favorites that are sequels. Now, I admit that there are probably some that I missed, but that's only because I didn't read them. I'm kind of upset with myself because I didn't get to read many of the BIG books of the year (Red Queen, Illuminae, A Court of Thorns and Roses, etc). I'm working on it.

Here are my favorites!!
(the book covers take you to Goodreads)

None of the Above by I.W. Gregorio

This was my favorite of the year! It's an absolutely fantastic book that I believe EVERYONE should read.

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

This came a VERY close second. I loved this fantasy/adventure and I can't wait for more!

The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows

Such a fantastic fantasy!

The Glass Arrow by Kirsten Simmons

Wow! I was blown away by this dystopian gem!

Shutter by Courtney Alameda

Creepy, scary supernatural horror at it's best!

The Cage by Megan Shepherd

What a cool and unusual book! I can't wait to read what happens next!

Vanishing Girls

Lauren Oliver's latest mystery/thriller kept me on the edge of my seat!

Dumplin' by Julie Murphy

Julie Murphy's debut, Side Effects Mat Vary, made my favorites list last year. This year, she does it again with this sweet, adorable and inspiring story.

Love, Lucy by April Lindner

This book has stuck with me all year. It's got beautiful writing, gorgeous scenery, a swoon-worthy romance and a positive message.

Sweet by Emmy Laybourne

This was pretty much my guilty pleasure of the year. It's kind of like a B movie. It's basically a zombie cruise that's gory and totally fun in a creepy kind of way. It does have a message about liking yourself for who you are and not losing yourself to be what you're not. And lots of people die. It may seem like an odd pick, but I totally enjoyed it

Honorable Mentions:

Favorite sequels:

The Heir (The Selection #4) by Kiera Cass

Castle of Sighs (Forest of Whispers #2)
by Jennifer Murgia

Devil's Pocket (Phoenix Island #2) by John Dixon

What were your favorites of 2015?

  8. I loved Vanishing Girls too!! I almost put it on my list, but since I also read Before I Fall this year I felt like I had to choose :( They're both awesome, but Before I Fall just wowed me. You have a great mix of books up there!! So many that I want to read: like Shutter and Six of Crows (maybe). Great List!!
