Why I Haven't Been Posting As Much

Wow. Ok. I guess it's time to talk about this. Some of you may have noticed that I haven't been posting as much lately. I've really been trying to keep up with things, but life has a funny way of throwing really wicked curve balls. I miss a Top Ten Tuesday or Waiting on Wednesday here and there and I haven't been able to read as much as I had been. Most of the year, I was 5-9 books ahead on my Goodreads challenge, but I'm currently 4 books behind. I really do have a good reason. I'm ready to talk about it now,

Many of you know I have an amazing little boy. If you didn't, here he is:

Well, last month, I became a single mother. His father left us. I don't want to get into all the details, but it was a shock and it's been hard for us. I've been doing things on my own and dealing with the aftermath, so I haven't had as much time to read and blog. I'm trying to keep things as normal as possible for him. He just started preschool and I'm trying to keep him busy. I'm also trying to do things for myself that I had enjoyed doing, which is why I promise to keep up with this blog as much as I can. I will post my TTT and WoW's, I will try to post more book reviews and I will get back to reading more.

There's one other thing....

I'm also going to be a single mother of two.

In December I will be welcoming a little girl. Yes, their father knew before he left last month.

I can do this.

Needless to say, I may not be able to post as much in December and January. Hopefully she's good and she'll give me some reading and blogging time. My little boy is THRILLED and he will be a wonderful big brother.

The last two months have been really rough. When the life you thought you'd have is turned upside down and taken away from you, it's not easy. There have been many tears, but I can't let it break me.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck with Michelle's Minions. As long as there are books to be read, I'll be here to stay.

  1. Omg, Michelle, my heart breaks for you. I cannot believe that you are becoming a single mother and expecting soon. I'm here for you if you need anything. Family and friends really help in these situations. My mom was a single mother of 2. Granted we were a bit older (6 and 3) but my brother was a terror when he was little.

Worry about you and your family. We will still be here when you're able to post, don't you worry about that! I love you and I am sending my prayers and wishes your way!

    P. S. Your little boy looks adorable. And congrats on the upcoming arrival of your little girl.

  7. Just know we're here for you. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this. I say do what you can, blog and read as you can, but don't do any more than you want to, or can. We want you here when you can be, and don't want you to get to where you don't like it. I'll still be checking in on your posts! And congrats on your news!

  9. What a gorgeous little boy you have there! You can see from his happy smiling face what a great job you are doing in bringing him up and you will do a great job with the new baby as well. My heart breaks for you both, having to go through all this and my thoughts will be with you. Don't be shy about leaning on friends for support or advice or a shoulder to cry on occasionally. When you have tough days to come, just look at your beautiful children and you'll know that you can get through it with their love and laughter. Sending you some big virtual hugs.

  12. Michelle, I had no idea this was happening. I'm so sorry! Big hugs to you. If anyone can do this, you can. Little Guy will be a big help, I'm sure. And don't worry about blogging. Your kids come first.

  13. Oh Michelle! My goodness, I am SO sorry that you have been going through this. Where to even begin? I have so much to say and I am not sure where to even start. Okay- your son is SO sweet, and he is so damn lucky to have you as a mom. You are just such an amazing mother to be doing your best for him. And your little girl? Also lucky to have you AND your son to be there for her. She is going to be so precious and sweet like him, and you'll LOVE having a daughter- and he is going to LOVE being a big brother. And a HUGE congrats to you! Even though it certainly is not good timing, she will absolutely be a blessing.

Secondly... I am just so sorry that he did this to you. You don't deserve this, but I know you will get through it. I am sending every single bit of good vibes that I can muster straight to you!

Third. We are NOT that far apart, locationally speaking. So if you need ANYTHING, please don't hesitate to ask. This isn't just words, I am serious. I know how hard it can be when your support system isn't up to par, and I am telling you that even if you just wanted to get the kids together for a playdate or something, or if you need help, or whatever, you know where to find me. I feel like that saying of "it takes a village" to raise kids is so true, and yet it is so often overlooked.

I just want to give you a huge hug. Know that you are loved and supported, and we'll be here for you! I am sure people would even help out virtually with blogging stuff- a few guest posts while you were having the baby, etc. Anyway, just please feel free to reach out if you want, or not if you don't want. Whatever is best for you, and whatever makes you happy. You're doing such an amazing job as a mom, but try to take care of YOU too, okay? <3 <3 <3

  14. Girl. You are one of the kindest, most hard-working people in the blogging community that I know. I don't know you IRL but I know your work ethic, your nice comments, and your generosity. You are so strong, and so wonderful, and what you are dealing with and will deal with is so unfair to you. I wish I could throttle someone for doing this. Your kids are the most important of this matter - we understand and we want you to take care of YOU and your kids. Don't feel overburdened by this bustling community, LIFE life comes first always! <3
