Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Hyped Books I Haven't Read...YET

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's Top Ten topic is, "Ten Hyped Books I've Never Read". Well, I'm absolutely planning to read these ten books as soon as I can, so I put a tiny positive spin on it. I haven't read them YET, but I promise I will get to them. I always feel a little bad when we have a topic like this. These are all books I've been so excited to read but for whatever stupid reason, I just haven't gotten around to them yet. I think I read a lot, 50 books so far this year, but I know it's not as much as a lot of other people. Even with 50 books down, I still managed to miss some HUGE ones. These are, what I consider, super hyped books that everyone is/was talking about. I'll start with the newer books and end with some older ones I desperately want to get read (finally).

I NEED TO READ THESE!!

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

I know! I know! BAD Michelle! I was so excited to read this, but I was in the middle of a few books when it came out and I had other commitments for review. It's still no excuse because I even got it from NetGalley but I decided to wait until closer to the release date. You know how that worked out.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

I don't know why I haven't read this yet. There's talk about Elizabeth Banks directing the movie and people rave about it. I'll just hang my head in shame.

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Again, lots of hype. Haven't gotten around to reading it..YET.

The Girl at Midnight by Melissa Grey

In my defense, it's up next in my tbr pile, along with another older book you'll find on this list.

The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson

Yes, I know, I've heard it's fantastic. People are drooling and clawing to get their hands on the sequel that's out TODAY. Just because I haven't read it yet doesn't mean that I didn't pre-order the sequel (it was a really good price and from what I hear, I'll need it right away).

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

I've had this for a long time and I need to find out what the hype is about.

Angelfall by Susan Ee

This is next up in the tbr pile. I'm finally going to join the party! Well, the only thing that makes me nervous now is that I've seen mixed reviews for the final book in the series.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

I will read this by the end of the year. I PROMISE.

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken

I'm kicking myself for not reading this a long time ago. It's in my giant tbr pile and it's close enough to the top that I can see it. That's a good thing.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Don't hurt me. I bought the collector's edition and I promise to read it by the time Carry On is released. I want to join the fun. I really do. I want to be a fangirl.

What hyped books haven't you read yet?

  3. Ahhh, The Kiss of Deception is an amazing read. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did!

  4. Dang you have some amazing books to read! I adore Fangirl and Angel Fall. However, the rest of these books are all on my TBR pile. :)

My TTT didn't overlap yours a bit.

  5. The only one I've read it Fangirl! I finally read it last year and actually really enjoyed it!! Mara Dyer also made it onto my list! A Court of Thorns & Roses, The Kiss of Deception, Red Rising, and Angelfall are on my 2015 TBR list. I want to read Red Rising before Red Queen because I've heard a lot of people say it's similar in a way.

  6. We haven't read some of the same hyped reads! The only ones I have read are Deception and Red Queen. Red Queen was just ok for me, but Deception was pretty good. Fangirl and Angelfall have been on my TBR list forever now. Too many books, not enough time!

  8. Some of these are sooo good! I love the Penryn and the End of Days Series, The Darkest Minds, Mara Dyer, and The Kiss of Deception! Red Queen was good but I didn't love it. I heard it was a lot like Red Rising (which I also haven't read). Hope you enjoy them!

  10. Out of all of these, I've only read ACOTAR (I recommend it but I liked ToG better) and Fangirl, which I loved too. Most of the rest of your picks are ones I NEED to read too: Red Rising, Angelfall, Darkest Minds, An Ember in the Ashes, Red Queen and Girl of Midnight. So many books, so little time LOL

  11. OMG! So many of these are SOOO GOOD! I really need to read Kiss of Deception (I own it, but haven't read it) and Red Rising too!! I probably won't ever read anything by Rainbow Rowell, but I guess I'm in the minority there.

    Here are my Top Ten!

  13. I haven't read any of the books mentioned in your post either!! I am happy to see that I'm not the only one who still hasn't read Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell... It is on my reading wishlist thought.

  14. I've actually just started Fangirl, otherwise I also wouldn't have read any of the books mentioned in this post! Fangirl is quite good! I'd like to read Red Queen at some point.

  15. I've recently read The Darkest Minds and it was sooo amazing! I thought for sure I won't enjoy it but it was actually one of the best dystopian novels I've ever read. Now I just hope the sequels won't ruin it either. I didn't care much for Fangirl and Mara Dyer, unfortunately. I have Red Rising and Angelfall on the top of my tbr pile. :)
    Lovely list!

  16. Those are definitely some hyped books!! I loved Fangirl. That pink cover is adorable!! The Mara Dyer books are fun and addicting to read, but I wasn't completely 100% sold on everything that goes down in the series. Also ACOTAR and Red Queen scare me. Too much hype!!

  17. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer and Fangirl are two of my favorites! They're so good. I hope you get around to reading these!

  18. You should check out Angelfall (and An Ember to the Ashes)! At first, I'm not completely sure if I'm going to like this but this book was really great. Thank you for stopping by earlier.

  19. I've read half of these! ACOTAR is an absolute must read, but you already know that. I hope you can get to it soon! Red Queen is super exciting. The Kiss of Deception is fantastic and I'm pretty sure the sequel is going to be even BETTER. Angelfall is pretty interesting. I recently binge read the series and I have to agree with a lot of people the the last book is little disappointing. And The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is awesome. I love the couple in that one. :)

  20. So, I haven't read Fangirl either. We can be outcasts together ;) I liked ACOTAR a lot. Kiss of Deception is a MUST! I loved it so much! An Ember in the Ashes was also good!

Okay so, Angelfall was AMAZING. So amazing. But the series ended with a whimper, in my opinion. So... I don't know, I have mixed feelings on whether you should even start. I feel the same way about The Darkest Minds, to be honest. I didn't HATE the end or anything it just... could have been much more epic. Maybe it's me ;)

  21. Oh, yes! These books are all over the book blogosphere. I've only heard great stuff about them, so I do hope you are able to get to them soon and that you love them. Nice list!

Thank you for stopping by my post earlier, and happy reading!

  22. Oooo some really fantastic books on here! Particularly loved 'An Ember in the Ashes' 'The Girl at Midnight' and 'A Court of Thorns and Roses'. Unfortunately I wasn't as fussed on 'Red Queen' although I can see why a lot of people love it. I'll be interested to hear what you think!

  23. Probably just me, but I wasn't wild about Fangirl.

    2. I haven't read Red Queen yet either.. and I'm not entirely sure why, considering it was my MOST
ANTICIPATED READ OF 2015.... I need to get on that!
    3. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer... you already know my thoughts on this one! :) However, I have yet to get to the third one.. haha.
