Top Ten Tuesday: Ten(ish) Books I Can't Believe I Haven't Read Yet

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's Top Ten topic is "ten books I can't believe I haven't read yet", and I have a feeling this is going to feel like a giant confession. I read a lot, like a whole lot, but somehow a few pretty big books slip through the cracks. I really can't believe I haven't read these YA books, especially since I own them all. I need to remedy this situation.

So, here are ten (ok, so it's more than ten, but series count as one spot) books I can't believe I haven't read yet:

Looking for Alaska by John Green

Nope. Haven't read this. It sits only a few feet away from me right now. I don't even have to get up reach it. I really can't believe I haven't read it. I will. I promise! I've read John Green's other books...

I've been meaning to read this for a long time. I even bought the sequel.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I want to read this SO BAD, and I don't know why I haven't yet. I bought it four years ago! What is my problem?

Across the Universe by Beth Revis

I know I'll love this, I just need to read it. Again, I own a hardcover and I fail at reading stuff.

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

All three books in the trilogy are out now, I think it's about time to read this. Hey, on the bright side, no waiting!

Cinder/Scarlet/Cress (The Lunar Chronicles) by Marissa Meyer

Please don't hate me! I'm so sorry! I own them all and I plan to marathon read them. I'm extremely upset with myself for not reading this series yet. I'm SO late to this party.

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Another book that likes to stare at me from the giant tbr pile across the room, I really NEED to read this!

Last Sacrifice (Vampire Academy #6) by Richelle Mead

Confession: I haven't read the last Vampire Academy book. I read all the others as soon as they were released, but I haven't finished the series. I do have a good reason. It came out when I was pregnant with my son. I had HORRIBLE nausea that lasted the whole time and it was worse when I tried to read. That's right, I couldn't read for 9 months  7 months (he was a preemie) without getting very, very sick. Short books were easier, but long books, no way.  I started it and had to set it aside. I was so busy going to the hospital to visit him and taking care of him when he finally came home I just never picked it back up. I keep meaning to, which leads me to the next book(s) on my list...

Bloodlines series by Richelle Mead

Look how many there are! Do you see what I did? By neglecting one book, I left 6 out in the cold with no one to read them. Shame on me!

The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon

Another one I've been meaning to read for a long time. I've heard so many good things about it and it sounds awesome. The sequel, The Mime Order, was just released, so I should get moving!

Honorable mentions (aka, other books I've slacked on reading):

What books have you been meaning to read?

  2. That is a very good reason for not having read Last Sacrifice and by proxy the Bloodlines series! But still, Mead is known for her cliffhangers! I admire your gumption to not have dived back to LS at the first opportunity! This also means you can binge read the Bloodlines series as well!

Mara Dyer was another good one! I binged the first two and had to wait for the final one, which wasn't too smart since I forgot a good amount of what I read! LOL!

And oooooh Falling Kingdoms needs to jump higher on the TBR pile! I LOVE that series! I didn't think I would LOVE it so completely like I do, but I'm near obsessed with it! LOL!

    Great picks!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. Most of these are still on my shelf waiting for me, too. Mara Dyer, do it!! :) But I'm pretty sure we all know my obsession with this book! haha.

The Lunar Chronicles! Get on that bandwagon! I promise there is a reason why it's so hyped up. It actually lives up to the hype! :)

Last Sacrifice, is just a need. but the reasoning is understandable!

    Great list! :)

  7. You've reminded me of a couple books I want to read. It really is hard to fit them all in--but we sure try, don't we?

I have the Lunar Chronicles, The Diviners and The Bone Season in my TBR collection. Looking for Alaska, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and Red Rising are on my wish list.

I see a few new to me books on your list that sound like ones that belong on my wish list. LOL

The only one on you listed that I have read (or rather listened to) is Night Circus. Loved that one.

  8. Okay, you absolutely have to read my all time favorite series Bloodlines. I can rave and rave for days about how much I love this series. It is so much better than Vampire Academy and ahhhhh I absolutely love it. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is definitely a must read as well. I flew through that story in just a day. It is so unique and captivating.

  9. The only ones I haven't read on your list are the Mead books and Bone Season. In honorable mention, I haven't read Sunrise and Wild Cards. The Mead books because, don't kill me, I did not like vampire Academy at all. I gave up after read Blood Promise, which bored the heck out of me. Anyway, you have some really great books on this list! I'm not listing them, because you probably have heard people rave about all of these, but I hope you get to them soon!

  11. I haven't read The Lunar Chronicles and any books from the Mara Dyer Trilogy yet. And almost all of the books you've listed here are also on my TBR, collecting dust, so you're not alone! LOL

And Looking For Alaska is one of my favorite books. Food for the broken soul! Across The Universe looks gorgeous! Awesome list, and hope you finally get the time to read them! :D

  13. I just bought Red Rising...like today, hahaha. You really need to read the Bloodlines series asap, Michelle. It took me awhile to read them, too, but then I SAW THE ERROR OF MY WAYS and binge-read them allllll. I mean, you have a legit excuse, having a baby and all (cute!)

  15. I LOVE The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer so I hope you can binge read that one soon. Same with VA and Bloodlines, I'm doing a re-read of the Bloodlines books now to prepare for the epicness that will be The Ruby Circle.

I only just read Cinder in December so don't worry you're not the only one behind on that haha. I also have yet to read Red Rising, hopefully that will be done sometime this year seeing as EVERYONE seems to rave about it :)
