My thoughts
AFTER READING:
Holy $@#%!! Do you hear that? It's the sound of my heart beating out of my chest, my head exploding and me screaming, "WTF!?! I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW!!!!" Oh, my gods, how am I going to review this one without spoilers? I'm going to have to get creative. Every synopsis is so vague and now I totally understand why. This really was a big wtf, but a totally good one. I'm pretty sure I've never read anything like this before. The wait for the next book is going to be excruciating! And, yes, I really did scream when I got to the end.
So, what IS this about, anyway?
Let me try to review this without giving too much information away.
It's the middle of the afternoon, in the middle of what should be a normal school day for Charlie and Silas. The thing is, it's anything but a normal day for both of them. They both have some sort of amnesia. They "woke up" with no memories. Charlie can remember song lyrics, but she has no idea where she lives. Silas can remember what jellyfish look like, but he doesn't recognize his own face. Charlie and Silas quickly realize that this amnesia is only affecting the two of them. They've figured out that they are dating and they were in love, but they are now complete strangers. Neither one of them remembers anything about their relationship and they have no idea how they both seem to have forgotten every last bit of personal information. Together, they try to make sense of it all, looking for clues that might explain who they are and what happened to them, but they may not like everything they find out. Neither has a perfect life, and neither was a perfect person. Each secret they uncover paints a more disturbing picture of their pasts. Silas wants to know everything, but Charlie is troubled by the person she is/was, and she's more hesitant to get to the bottom of this mystery. In a way, it's as if they are both getting a second chance at first love, but the secrets that they kept might be too much of an obstacle to overcome.
Set in the mystical city of New Orleans, Charlie and Silas search for answers while falling in love all over again. Their connection is smoldering and intense, but unfortunately, their story is more complicated than quantum physics. It's only a matter of time before things take a dark and dangerous turn.
Who are they? Why is this happening? What will become of Charlie and Silas? In Never Never, you'll unravel the mystery along with them. As they search for answers, they find more questions that will leave you furiously turning pages right up until the shocking cliffhanger ending.
How did I do? Did I say enough without saying too much?
There is so much packed into this intriguing thriller, and part of the fun is getting the information at the same time as the characters. It makes you feel like you're part of the story. It's told in an alternating POV, Colleen Hoover writing as Silas, Tarryn Fisher as Charlie. They gave each of them their own, very unique voice. They also did an incredible job portraying the characters' amnesia. I swear, I was wondering if maybe I hit my head at some point while reading it. And no matter how much of an amateur detective I think I am, there's no way I could have figured anything out. I still have NO IDEA where this is going to go in the next book. NO. IDEA. I read this as an eBook, but I definitely want to purchase a copy for my shelves. This was a refreshing change of pace and I'll probably be thinking about it for a while. Oh, my goodness...I need to find out what happens next!
Book two will be available in May.
OMG! That cover!
After you read part one, this cover will make sense...and it will give you chills.

I really tried hard not to give any information, which was so hard when I'm trying to review a book! I absolutely understand why it was kept so secret. I loved finding out what was happening at the same time as the characters. I purposely made it so that if someone didn't want to know anything at all, they could still see a review (the first part). If you don't have it already, right now it's 99 cents for kindle on Amazon. I don't know how long that price will last.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea either, and it makes me all the more excited for the next book! I'm glad you enjoyed it and I can't wait for the second one! :)

I had no idea what this book was when I picked it up, the premise wasn't helping either. I thought it was a cliche one night stand thing .. but it blew my mind away! <3 Great review, I'm glad you loved it as well :)

Love the review very unique. I've picked this one up when it came out but I haven't gotten to it yet. I'm tempted to drop my current book to read it because you've tempted me. Thanks for sharing.
