Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.
There were so many amazing books released in 2014, many of which I anxiously awaited and pre-ordered. Of course, try as I might, I can't read every book. There are always a few that I really wanted to read but just never got around to, which brings me to this week's Top Ten topic, "Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn't Get To". I was really looking forward to reading all of these books, some I even chose to feature in Waiting on Wednesday posts. Hopefully, I'll get around to reading these soon.
So, here they are, ten books I meant to read in 2014:
As you can see, I bought them all and had every intention of reading them.
Let's go through them one at a time...
Afterworlds by Scott Westerfeld
I think the sheer size of this book is what made me put off reading it.
Atlantia by Ally Condie
I was looking forward to this all year, I even pre-ordered it! I'm sure I could even read it in a day! I really need to set a day aside for it.
The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson
This one taunts me. I hear so many wonderful things about it. I wish I had made time for it.
The Walled City by Ryan Graudin
This book sounded so cool and so fun! I'm hoping to finally get started reading it soon. I had to have it right away, but for some unknown reason I never got to it. I wonder what distracted me?
Mortal Danger by Ann Aguirre
I really, really meant to read this. You can't go wrong with books about Faustian bargains.
The Young Elites by Marie Lu
I have no idea why I haven't read this yet. I feel kind of ashamed that I missed it last year.
Love is the Drug by Alaya Dawn Johnson
I picked this thriller as a my Waiting on Wedensday a while back. Well, I waited, I bought and I...didn't get around to reading it. This makes me sad.
Extraction by Stephanie Diaz
I seriously almost started reading this at least ten times but I got distracted or I had to read other books for review or who knows what happened. I now have the second book, so I should probably get moving and read this.
Talon by Julie Kagawa
Another book I waited anxiously for that I never got to read. It's a big one, too. I fail.
Sweet Unrest by Lisa Maxwell
I was looking forward to the spooky Voodoo that this book promised. I made it a Waiting on Wednesday and was so excited to finally get it. I tried to read it, but at the end of the year things got kind of crazy. I will be reading it soon. Really.
Have you read any of these?
Which ones should I move to the top of my tbr pile?
What books did you miss in 2014?

Talon is one I didn't get at BEA so I couldn't get to it. But I did get ARCs of The Walled City and AFterworlds and I need to get to them soon!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Top 10
A few of these are ones I haven't heard of before, but they look really great. I've read Atlantia, The Kiss of Deception, The Young Elites and Talon... but I'm not the one to recommend them to you as I was disappointed by all of them haha. I hope you find the time to get to these in 2015!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous picture of all the books^^ ♥ I also meant to get to Afterworlds, Talon, The Young Elites and Walled City last year but man it seems like there's always too many books, too little time XD I hope you can get to these asap this year - and I hope the same for me tbh hahah! x
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to The Young Elites and The Walled City too! I'm especially excited to read the first one since I've heard so many great things about Lu's books and this would be my first one. I've heard about The Kiss of Deception as well, but I'm still iffy on it since I'm trying to take a break from love triangles:P. Enjoy your reads though!:)
