Description from Goodreads:

A New York Times bestselling author brings dark secrets to life in a lush new YA perfect for fans of Libba Bray or Cassandra Clare.

Society girls from New York City circa 1890, Dacia and Lou never desired to know more about their lineage, instead preferring to gossip about the mysterious Romanian family that they barely knew. But upon turning seventeen, the girls must return to their homeland to meet their relatives, find proper husbands, and—most terrifyingly—learn the deep family secrets of The Claw, The Wing, and The Smoke. The Florescus, after all, are shape-shifters, and it is time for Dacia and Lou to fulfill the prophecy that demands their acceptance of this fate . . . or fight against this cruel inheritance with all their might.

With a gorgeous Romanian setting, stunning Parisian gowns, and dark brooding young men, readers will be swept up by this epic adventure of two girls in a battle for their lives.

Why I'm excited:

Oh! I love Jessica Day George! Her books are so magical and her writing is absolutely gorgeous. This sounds completely different from what she normally writes, and I admit, it makes me want to read it more. I'm a huge fan of her fairytale retellings that are infused with fantasy and I can't wait to see how this turns out. Plus, it's about shape-shifters! I love the Romanian setting, too. I see that she went there to do research AND she's been working on this for years.

This sounds so awesome! I'm doing my own little dance of joy over here while I wait to read Silver in the Blood...

What are you waiting to read?

    1. My favorite Jessica Day George book is Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow. It's based on the Nordic legend East of the Sun, West of the Moon, but it's a lot like Beauty and the Beast. Her writing is like magic. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I hadn't heard of this book before, but it does look really good, plus anything with Prophecies are books that I really get into.
