Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books I Want to Re-read

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's topic is "Top Ten books I want to re-read (or if you don't re-read, would re-read in an ideal world". Well, I have SO many new books and sequels I desperately need to make time for, so I rarely get a chance to re-read. But, in an ideal world where I was given a few extra, uninterrupted hours each day, there are a few books I'd love to experience for a second time. On this list will be some series that I'm going to count as one book/list item.

If I could, I would re-read....

The Hitchhiker's Guide series by Douglas Adams

It's been a long time since I've read these. Honestly, there's a lot that I've forgotten. I think reading them again will be just as fun as the first time.

Unwind by Neal Shusterman

I'm 100% certain that I will get around to re-reading Unwind. I loved this book, but it came out a few years before it's sequels started to release. I've always wanted to continue with this series, especially since the final book was released this past October. I absolutely need to read Unwind again before moving on because I don't remember enough and I'd like to get my mind back into the story.

Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang

This book released just this past September and I inhaled it. I loved it. Because I turned the pages so quickly, I'd like to go back and savor the words that Amy Zhang so beautifully wrote.

The Selection series by Kiera Cass

I just really enjoyed these books and I'd love to revisit them again. Thank goodness there are more coming out, but I still loved the story of America and Maxon <3

These Broken Stars
 and
This Shattered World
by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

I honestly think I will be re- reading these before the third book is released next year. There is a lot going on that connects these books to each other and I have a feeling I'm going to need a refresher. Plus, there were a lot of details I may have missed that were relevant to the overall plot of this series. And they're amazing books that I'd love to experience for a second time.

Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins
(not YA)

This is just one of my favorite books ever. I have re-read it and I'll do it again. You should read it, too. READ IT!!

Description from Goodreads:

"Jitterbug Perfume" is an epic. which is to say, it begins in the forests of ancient Bohemia and doesn't conclude until nine o'clock tonight [Paris time]. It is a saga, as well. A saga must have a hero, and the hero of this one is a janitor with a missing bottle. The bottle is blue, very, very old, and embossed with the image of a goat-horned god. If the liquid in the bottle is actually is the secret essence of the universe, as some folks seem to think, it had better be discovered soon becaused it is leaking and there is only a drop or two left.

Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling

It's been a long time since I've read the first Harry Potter books. A long time. I imagine this will be on most people's lists.

Fallen by Lauren Kate

The movie will be out next year and it's been a while since I read this. Also, I haven't read the rest of the series and I'd like to...yeah, I know...I suck. I even own them!

A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle

I've always meant to re-read this as an adult. I loved it as a kid and it really opened my eyes to fantasy at a young age. I hope it's as magical as I remember it to be.

The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg

I remember that this book was adorable, sweet and hilarious. Three short eBook sequels are releasing this year and a full sequel will be out in January, 2015. The thing is, I read The Lonely Hearts Club four years ago and I don't remember it well enough to move on in the series without a re-read.

What books would you re-read?

  2. Falling into Place was soo wonderful, the only reason for it not being on my list is because I read it like two weeks ago so I can't think about rereading it yet. I've yet to read the last book of The Fallen series and well I own it too, just not in the mood for it these days. The Selection trilogy *-* and the cover of The Heir *-* there are no words. Harry Potter and These Broken Stars nearly made my list.
Great picks! And thanks for stopping by. :)

  3. YES to Harry Potter -of course. I love the Selection trilogy as well and just found out there's going to be a new "spin-off" book called The Heir.

I have Falling into Place, These Broken Stars and Unwind on my TBR but I have never read them. I haven't read Fallen or The Hitchhiker's Guide either but for some reason I don't really have the want (or urge) to do so.

    Great picks!

  4. I would re-read The Good Earth... I list it as one of my favorite books of all-time but I read it in HS so it'd be cool to see if I feel the same.

Pssssst... when catching up on series... I run through the previous books on Wikipedia or Goodreads if it isn't on Wikipedia to recap. LOL

  5. I love Harry Potter (obviously) and A Wrinkle in Time! I thought Fallen was really good, too, but I didn't like the rest of the series. It got weird and complicated.

Thanks for stopping by The Fox's Hideaway!

  7. A Wrinkle in Time is one I used to read over and over, I would enjoy reading it again, if I had time. And Harry Potter of course I used to re-read before each of the movies came out at the theater. Great list! Thanks for stopping by my Top 10 earlier.
