Top Ten Tuesday: Ten YA Characters Who Would Have Sat At My Lunch Table

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week's top ten is a fun Back to School themed topic. We're being asked to list our "Top Ten book characters who would be sitting at your lunch table". Well, the first part of High School was pretty normal for me, but I'll be focusing on the second half. I guess you could say that I was kind of weird back then (still am). I wore what I wanted (still do) and didn't care what anyone thought (still don't). My hair was always a different color...bright green, purple, magenta, black. I was in a band (singer) outside of school that played in bars and I was in every play and musical the school put on. My friends were musical, artistic and intelligent. I liked Goth and Industrial music (still do) and went to shows in the city. I also did community theater and studied opera (singing).

I present to you, my lunch table...

Raven Madison
Vampire Kisses series by Ellen Schreiber
An over-the-top Goth girl...yeah, there was one of those at my table. It may have been me...

Karou and Zuzana
Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor
Mysterious, artistic and foreign. One of my closest friends in high school was from Russia, so these Czech chicks would be a good fit. Plus, I'd totally be friends with a puppeteer (Zuzana).

Karou

Zuzana

Eve Rosser and Michael Glass
The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine
Tough talking Goth girl who's also a great friend and her devoted, moody, musician boyfriend (yeah, he's not human, but whatever)

Beatrice Shakespeare Smith (aka Bertie)
Théâtre Illuminata trilogy by Lisa Mantchev
Anyone who's been involved in a play can tell you they feel like they are a part of the theater and can't leave. Bertie knows all about this. We'd totally be friends.

Mia and Adam
If I Stay/Where She Went by Gayle Forman
Two musicians. One classical, one rocks. Representing both sides of me.

Frankie Landau-Banks
The Disreputable History of Frankie Laundau Banks by E. Lockhart
A seemingly normal girl who is actually a super-smart, criminal mastermind. Gotta have one of those at your table.

Myrnin
The Morganville Vampires series by Rachel Caine
A totally unstable, batsh*t-crazy-man who walks around in vampire bunny slippers. I'm not naming names, but there was definitely a Myrnin at my table. Yup.

So, that's my crew. Kind of freaky, but fun.

Who would sit at your lunch table?

  1. Aww how the hell could I forgot Mia and Adam? I love them soo much. Unfortunately I wasn't able to see the movie yet thanks to the fact that it only hits theaters in Hungary in the middle of September but I can't wait. :))
Great list and thanks for stopping by my blog. :)

  2. Oh my goodness, I LOVE your list! First of all, your table sounds very fun! I love that we both sat with Mia, but at very different points. And I wish I could meet the guy in the bunny slippers! Catholic school didn't allow for any fun (except when I ate meat on Fridays in front of the nuns, and then innocently explained that I wasn't Catholic and bound by their rules. Lame, I know).

Also, I LOVE that you dyed your hair different colors! I have always, always wanted blue hair, but everyone tells me I couldn't pull it off. I wish I had the courage!
